My Kitchen
This is my smoothie bar with the 20 amp Blendtec blender. The jars contain most of the ingredients that I use in
my daily smoothies. There is coconut oil, raw honey from avocado blossoms, goji berries, hemp seed nut, flax seed, maca root, cinnamon, vanilla caviar, chlorella and spirulina powder, avocado pits, bee pollen, and agave nectar. Of course there is always organic fruits from local growers and almonds from a friend down the street (he has 48 trees), and local avocados. Some recipies call for avocados but I enjoy eating them with a little salt so much that I would hate to "waste" it in a smoothie.
My microwave is a great place to store things and it keeps the temperature fairly constant. The brown liquid you see there is the microorganisms (probiotics) that I cultivate. It takes about a week to "grow". The container in the back is still curing. When the pH hits 3.5 it will be ready to use. The blue box contains my Brixe Meter (refractometer) that I use to test the produce that I buy. The higher the Brixe level, the higher the nutrients. It's a handy tool to let you know the quality of food you are eating. Even organic produce can test low if the growing conditions are compromised. I can eat one high brixe piece of fruit or two low brixe pieces to get the same nutrients. The high brixe ones are the sweetest and always taste the best.
These avocados are grown about 5 miles from my house and mine are always in various stages of ripeness. Avocados will not start to ripen until they are picked. So I have to plan my purchases carefully so I don't run out. The expression, "An avocado (or two) a day will keep Bob happy" is very true in our home. The green ones here are Bacon Avocados which come out earlier in the season than the Hass Avocados. I really don't want to tell you what I pay for them because you may turn green with envy but I will - four for a dollar.
This video shows my kitchen with some of the equipment I use and some of the ingredients I use in my smoothies.
